Dr. Terry Yang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering, at San Diego State University. He obtained his Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Transportation Engineering from the University of Maryland, and his B.S. degree from Tsinghua University In China.

Before joining SDSU, he is working as a research assistant in the Center for Traffic Safety and Operations at University Maryland. During the past few years, he has been involved into several research projects, sponsored by National Science Foundation, San Diego Sate research Foundation, Maryland SHA and FHWA, to develop management, design, and evacuation systems of transportation for improving traffic operational efficiency and safety. He has published over 40 journal and conference papers and been serving as reviewer for multiple transportation journals. His current research focuses on develping dynamic evacuation systems, designing traffic incident management systems, and using connected vehicle technology in traffic operations.
